My First Music Check

February 1, 2019

This excerpt from my music distributor CD Baby, shows you what is being paid to musicians like me, for both downloading and streaming plays.

This is a small section that showed a mix of some downloads
with high pay, and streaming with small parts of a penny – pay.

I had set my limit for $50. So, after many years of mostly penny plays, I reached that amount and they sent me my first check.

5th CD Review by Barry

November 12, 2018

This review is from Barry (don’t know his last name) who won a Musea quiz and got my 5th CD as prize – November 2011.

My 9 CD set is virtually all the same, so his words work for all 150 recorded songs.

I’m currently enjoying your album “5TH”, having been pleasantly surprised by the sheer craft and accessibility of your music. I expected something very different and perhaps not so accessible from the progenitor of “post-band” music, but this is simply a pleasure.

Your voice is open, unaffected, and unfailingly musical, a little similar to my ears to Don McLean

The CD is well designed and produced, and makes a fine presentation to anyone you should wish to impress.

Thank you for your gift to me. Guess I’m ‘wised up”.*

Best Regards,
Barry

*My quizzes have the preface, “I don’t dumb down, so you wise up!” That is what he is referring to.

Not Bands but Something New

October 30, 2018

Musicians,

Maybe it’s time to recognize that the musicians you played with in high school or college may not be your life time friends.

Bands are the cutting edge of nothing now, and tying yourself to a set of musicians has never worked – not for the Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys, or any lesser group.

Choose musicians for a project, or a revue, or an album, then let them go and keep your independence. That is the lesson we should learn from 60 years of bands.

My choice is none of the above, something new, not a band, not a singer songwriter, something in between, something new.

Name that Classic Song

August 27, 2018

Dear Readers,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVCoGNIZMR0

This is a live recording of a 60s classic that I liked to play in my Box Office Concerts, but I never got around recording it in my 150 song OUTSIDE THE BOX set of 9CDs – now streaming everywhere.

Can you name it, and the group that made if famous?

See what you think, vote thumbs up, and share if you like.
