The RECAP issue, #204

November 19, 2018

Dear Reader,

The new issue of Musea #204 is out at the usual suspected places, been mailed to the usual suspects, and will be online at the slightly suspicious Musea website soon!

This issue is the RETROGRADE Issue, a recap of the last 25 years and 203 issues that went before. Lots of surprises here for every reader, from the casual to the faithful!

Look and see what you think. Comments welcome.

The Flight of the Queen

March 16, 2018

The Flight of the Queen

The Queen had enough
and scowled at the King,
– who paid no mind –
took off her crown,
swept back her hair,
and with a grand sweep
defenestrated it!

Where it startled a cat
traipsing by
who scampered off
to later return
and sniff the cold metal
and paw the bright gems.

With a train in pursuit
and the guards all lined up
like a column of sconces,
she left the castle.

Under a cloudy sky
she came to a halt,
raised her hand to command,
“Bring me a carriage!”
Attending maids
scattered to obey.

The Queen now ensconced:
bumping along over brick roads,
bumping along over stones in the dust,
bumping along over the muddy trail,
out of the kingdom,
and into the forest.

Her anger settled
– a falling curtain –
enough to take hold
in a lesser place.
Reason raised up
to then take over

Where to now…?
Where goes the Queen … ?

The Box – 1990 Musea Prediction.

March 13, 2018

Musea’s article in 1990, suggested something like i-pads, and google glasses long before you could buy one.

The Box. #64. Back in February 1990, I suggested my vision of the future of computers. I saw them condensing all into one box that was all these things; a phone, jukebox, radio, TV, gallery, library, camera, typewriter, printer, journal, etc.

Then in the last line I suggested that all of this would someday be reduced to a screen on a pair of glasses! That vision came true with smart phones, i-pads; and, 23 years later, with Google Glass, 2013.

(This quote is from Musea #200 a history of the first 200 issues.)

Channeling!

We Make Zines is Back

July 13, 2017

WE MAKE ZINES, the website for all zinesters is BACK!

Here is the information I received from them.

Website

Hello all,
The new We Make Zines website is up and ready for new members. Please be patient as we will be working out bugs as we go. Thanks so much to Nyx, James Mullineaux, Quasifesto, Kari Tervo and the rest of the team that gave WMZ a new place to thrive.

The WMZ site as you know it has existed for 9 years. It was just a fleeting idea I had one day to look for a ready-made social network site to host something like this. I didn’t even know if anyone would want to join. Now it’s nine years later and over 7,000 members in. Pretty cool. Ning served us well for a while, but the annual fees just went up too high. WMZ would be dead in a month if it weren’t for the dedicated Zine Team mentioned above. They will be managing the site moving forward. But, I will still be on and helping out.

Musea will be there. Best wishes to all,

Tom Hendricks
