3 CEO’s Control 80% of Music (2017)

May 2, 2017

You will never hear a protest song on mainstream radio. That means there is no revolt allowed in music. That’s why the revolt in music.

For all musicians out there, unless you are one of 6 main pop stars, you have been marginalized out of a career by 3 CEO’s that run the music business. Join the Dallas rebellion or start your own. For those who want more information…

There are 3 record companies that control 80% of the business, Warners, Universal, Sony. Each has a CEO. That’s 3 CEO’s controlling the music industry. They are in turn owned by the few major media conglomerates. Through this synergy, these few companies make the music, distribute it, promote it on their entertainment outlets, and then give themselves great reviews in the media they own.

Help by two very small things. 1. Pass the word that 3 CEO’s control music and have done great harm to thousands of musicians and 2. Support the musicians that are actively against all this.

The 3 have made it clear,
We only support a generic pop sound. We only promote that type of music, and only for a few. (Swift, Beyonce, Bieber, Adele, Gaga, Perry, and the pop star of the week.)

What else are they saying?

You play folk music? We don’t do folk, so you are out of a career. You play heavy metal? We don’t do heavy metal, so …
You play religious music? We don’t do religious music, so … You play classic rock? We don’t do classic rock, so …
You play classical music? We don’t do classical music, so … You play roots music? We don’t do roots music, so …
You play music and you aren’t a 20 something? We don’t do your music, so … You play kid’s music? We don’t do kid’s music, so …
You play jazz or big band? We don’t do jazz or big band, so… You play instrumentals? We don’t do instrumentals, so …
You play old style soul, r & b, or rap? We don’t do old style, so … You play protest music? We of course never make waves, so …
You play in a new style, are innovative and leading the way? We don’t do that ever! You play ???. We don’t do ???, so you are out of a career – period.

Three CEO’s Control 80% of Music

April 21, 2017

Three CEO’s from Warners, Universal, and Sony control 80% of the music industry and have ruined it. Here’s more.

The Music Problem, 3 Company Presidents Determine all Music?

March 10, 2016

Let’s look at the problem with the music industry this way.

There are 3 record companies that control 80% of the business, Warners, Universal, Sony. Each has a president. That’s 3 presidents controlling the music industry.

Do you think 3 people should determine the fate of 80% of the music business? No of course not, but they do now. The 3 have made it clear,

We only support a generic pop sound. We only promote that type of music, and only for a few. (Swift, Beyonce, Bieber, Adele, Gaga, Perry, and the media flavor of the week.)

What else are they saying?

You play folk music? We don’t do folk, so you are out of a career. You play heavy metal? We don’t do heavy metal, so you are out of a career.
You play religious music? We don’t do religious music, so you are out of a career. You play classic rock? We don’t do classic rock, so you are out of a career.
You play classical music? We don’t do classical music, so you are out of a career. You play roots music? We don’t do roots music, so you are out of a career. You play kid’s music? We don’t do kid’s music, so you are out of a career.
You play jazz or big band? We don’t do jazz or big band, so you are out of a career. You play instrumentals? We don’t do instrumentals, so you are out of a career.
You play old style soul, r & b, or rap? We don’t do old style, so you are out of a career. You play ???. We don’t do ???, so you are out of a career.

Here’s what they are saying loud and clear to musicians, and music lovers.

Musician: Doesn’t matter how good you are. Quality just gets in the way of how we make money on generic music from a tiny handful of over produced, and over promoted pop stars. AND
Music Lover: Doesn’t matter what music you like. You’ll have to search it out on the net, or some small club. You’ll never hear your favorites on the radio stations we control, or in our media we own.

3 Execs advice?

Try to find some small record company where you might make about minimum wage with no chance of real success and don’t bother us, you don’t fit the money making formula.

Then if someone happens to have a hit, we’ll buy the musician, or the record company, or distribute the record company – and you’ll sign a legal web that promises the musician all, and gives them nothing. We have a long track record to prove it.

My advice?

Rebel against this. When 3 people have that much control in music everything is wrong. Choose to do nothing, and you ruin just about everyone’s chance at a career in music.

Kesha versus Sony

February 22, 2016

Dear Musea Readers

Pop Star Kesha has been having a lot of trouble with her record company Sony. Check your favorite news source for the details

Part of her problem, the part that I want to talk about, is that Kesha’s contract with Sony (one of 3 record companies left, Warners, Universal, Sony) demands three more albums.
Here is my suggestion for how she can fulfill her contract and leave Sony for good.

Kesha, make three spoken word records.

Let the first be all about what led up to your trial.

Let the second one be about what happened at the trial and the outcome.

Let the third one be on why you hate Sony.

That would end your contract…. fast.

For me, I don’t think any record company should hold a musician against their will. How does that help either side?

The EU challenges the dominance of the Big 6, And that’s Good!

July 25, 2015

Looks like there is some EU (European Union) backlash against the Big 6, the 6 companies that control most arts.  The Big 6 are NBC Universal, Paramount Pictures, Sony, Twentieth Century Fox, Disney and Warner Bros.

Their dominance has spotlighted a few mostly generic musicians, writers, filmmakers, and marginalized most of the rest!  When there are only 6 choices we don’t have much choice.  There has to be thousands making art and competing in a somewhat level playing field, before we have great art again.  The internet is challenging these 6, and so are some regulators in Europe.  Glad to see more are joining the cause to get back to great art! – Tom Hendricks
