More Quatros (the 4+ word poems)

QUATROS

What is a QUATRO. It’s a new type of very very short poetry that usually compares two things, in a haiku way, packing a lot of meaning in a very small amount of words.
Most quatros have a comparison of two things, and behind that comparison is a 2nd deeper meaning. – Tom Hendricks

black – gray – white – ?

in a world
of constant strangers…

the girl’s
got bounce!

happiness
that is attached to nothing

good writing,
bad reading!

a thief
in the darkness …

white fog,
black rock

Can plants be enlightened
or are they already?
… and if so
why aren’t we?

Kansas is
next to Oz.

Quatros – A new sampling

May 7, 2017

What is a QUATRO. It’s a new type of very very short poetry that usually compares two things, in a haiku way, packing a lot of meaning in a very small amount of words. There is usually a very real comparison between two things, and behind it a 2nd deeper meaning. – Tom Hendricks

===============

more like lightning
than a lit candle.

the Big Bang
is a clown car.

there are stars
above the clouds.

Blue girl or
just the light.

Now
soup

snowflake
in the sun

Above our heads
a crown of stars

in the wake
of the Moon

The parents braced,
“Release the children!”

Crop of Lightning

More Vision Poems

WHAT IS A VISION POEM? (intro from Musea issue on Vision Poetry)
WARNING: This is not ‘Poetry 101’. This is advanced. Vision Poetry does not rhyme (most of the time), and it’s not what you are used to. If for any reason, after reading two or three of these short poems, you don’t ‘GET IT’; please, fold up the zine page , replace it on the stack where you found it, and slowly back away from your computer.

Now that we’ve gotten rid of the neophytes, let’s continue. Vision poems are part koan, part hallucination, part vision, slightly enlightening, and peppered with occasional eureka moments. They are word pictures, dreams, fantasies, jokes, lightning strikes, and kafkaesque situations. Read them with a sense of adventure. Then see if the startling images – somewhat like what a painter might see in his mind before beginning his new work – suggests anything deeper or more profound. Enjoy and let me hear what you think.

blue hand

she wore
a veil
of stars

the model train
has model smoke

I imagined a professional clothes line,
one thousand white ropes taut and cross crossing
acres of a hillside;
a heavenly wafting wind rippling fragrance,
a flapping, fiber, quick dying, engine.

QUATROS

beyond the bow
nothing but sea

a plinth
in the desert

a caged bird
for the bedridden child

more footprints
than waves

Three Winds (poems)

Three Winds

the wind so strong
hats are tilted
on slanted people
(inspired by Basho)

writing for me
is a gust of wind
it comes all at once
and then I’m done.

the moon flits about
chasing away
flimsy shadows
