Hard Day’s Night – Songs from the Beatle’s Soundtrack

July 10, 2016

This week in music the film a Hard Day’s Night was released in the UK.

I have recorded 3 songs from the soundtrack, two featured in the film, and one only on the record.

Hear my one guitar, one voice, one revolution version of:

Hard Day’s Night
(tricky to play lead on one guitar!)

And I love Her:
(beautiful ballad with my favorite two lines which to me sound like a perfect quatro.)

Bright are the Stars that Shine
Dark is the Night.

The 3 Songs Every Band Had to Learn in 1964

March 30, 2014

Dear Reader, let me take you back….

1964. The Beatles swept over us teens. Every boy among us started thinking about getting guitars, and starting a band. We started with standard guitars (cheaper) and graduated to electric, with some going to drums, and some rare ones going to bass.
What to play?

There were 3 songs that every band had to learn. It was like an audition set:
1. Gloria (Them, or Shadows of the Night version.)
2. House of the Rising Sun (the Animals version).
3. Louie Louie (The Kingsmen’s version).

Got those down? You were official – you were a rock and roll combo.
