Realism Versus Other Art

April 3, 2018

This post looks at the two different types of art: REALISM versus OTHER TYPES OF ART.

Many only like realism. The paintings and art they like have to look as much like a photograph as possible.
That’s fine; but know that art can evolve too, and artists that don’t do realism, can be just as talented.

Realism shows the world as it is.

The other types of art enhance reality for effect that often gives the art:

more drama
more impact
more emotion
more spontaneity
more color,
more charm,
more fun
more exaggeration for effect
more style,
more inspiration,
more spirituality, …

This enhanced art can also better explain or illustrate a story or concept. It can also lead to better compositions.

So open both your eyes and mind and see and enjoy all the many types of great art out there.

The Women Collage

September 14, 2017

This collage, Women, is a collection of my drawings of women over the years.

Making the actual collage took a few hours; but in another sense it took 50 years. That is the length of time it took for me to make all these drawings. Here I have assembled them into a single collage.

With the new copy technology out there, I am one of the first generation of artists to be able to do something like this – to make drawings, take them to a copy store, then cut out the copies and make a collage.

Far as I know I may be one of the first to make a collage of original drawing copies. See what you think?

August 10, 2017

Dear Reader,

The best of the art world is not confined to galleries or museums. More and more the best artists are not in either!

When looking for the most exciting and progressive art – not a rehash of last century art – please look to these artists:

1. Illustrators
2. Fashion designers
3. Video game artists
4. Animated film artists
5. Comic and graphic novel artists.
6. Graffiti artists.
7. Primitive artists.
