Texas Music Office – and Big List

July 21, 2017

Letter to Texas Music Office 7/21/2017

TMO, you cover Texas Music news. Cover the Big List, the first, best music of the entire internet, music list – devised by the Dallas zine Musea, publishing for 25 years . This is a one of kind first in music. This is not too progressive for you guys like my TeXas Video Showdown, so it is safe enough to talk about, and report on.
Remember you don’t have to approve the message, just allow the discussion, or report the news. This link tells much more about the Big LIst ( also see tomhendricks.us )

Reading – don’t stop

July 19, 2017

So how ignorant do YOU look?

Follow me on this – when you graduate college, you look back on HS grads as not well read enough. OK but let’s say you leave college and never read again. What do you think people that keep reading from then on for 10-50 years think of you college grads?

The Literacy Site has a chart that says these facts:

33% of HS grads never read another book the rest of their lives. 42% of college grads never read another book after college.
70% of US adults have not been in a bookstore the last five years. 80% of US families did not buy or read a book last year.

But I Can Search Out the Music I like

July 19, 2017

For those of you who think all is well if YOU can search out the musician you like. Read this:

Many seem to settle for all the arts to be ruined because of business demands for profit. And they allow their favorite musicians, writers, artists, filmmakers to be marginalized out of fair reviews and careers.

For some reason, too many now think that if THEY can search out and find an elusive great talent, that is enough. It is not.

Virtually every talented musician, painter, writer, filmmaker, etc is making about what amounts to minimum wage. Great talent should be the most celebrated, not the most marginalized and cheated out of fair compensation for their honest talent.

The history of art has never been like this before. The best art has always been the most talked about, written about, and reviewed. The entire arts and media world is upside down.

Reader, don’t you dare say you support the arts when you allow so few to make all the money, with thousands and thousands of artists making about as much as minimum wage – on a good day!

That is why the art revolution to change it. Which side are you on?

More Sayings of Editor Art

July 13, 2017

Here are more sayings of Musea’s Editor Art

Why do you think the world gets so excited about a new great book, record, or film; but no one cares about a new great painting? All are mass produced except the painting.

When you are cold, nothing else matters.

Too many think that art is a trendy marketing scheme.

Do you think your knife cuts water?

This generation supports progressive politicians; but won’t support progressive musicians, painters, writers, filmmakers that are trying to make the arts better; and instead accepts without question the most corporate art, controlled by the very few mega corporations.

Cotton Candy Talk (empty talk that sounds sweet.)

Trump is our environment president, he’s preserved the swamp.

Each great family has a torch bearer.

Power is like a rug under your feet on a waxed floor.

Too many business executives use their company as a shield to hide their profiteering. The company takes the blame and the business executive leaves with millions.

Go to bed hungry, wake up hungry.

Music can mean anything. Lyrics lock it in.

We Make Zines is Back

July 13, 2017

WE MAKE ZINES, the website for all zinesters is BACK!

Here is the information I received from them.

Website
http://wemakezines.com/?xg_source=msg_mes_network

Hello all,
The new We Make Zines website is up and ready for new members. Please be patient as we will be working out bugs as we go. Thanks so much to Nyx, James Mullineaux, Quasifesto, Kari Tervo and the rest of the team that gave WMZ a new place to thrive.

The WMZ site as you know it has existed for 9 years. It was just a fleeting idea I had one day to look for a ready-made social network site to host something like this. I didn’t even know if anyone would want to join. Now it’s nine years later and over 7,000 members in. Pretty cool. Ning served us well for a while, but the annual fees just went up too high. WMZ would be dead in a month if it weren’t for the dedicated Zine Team mentioned above. They will be managing the site moving forward. But, I will still be on and helping out.

Musea will be there. Best wishes to all,

Tom Hendricks
