Media Consolidation Limits Diversity

Dear Reader,

When the media talks about the latest media consolidation (AT&T/Time Warner), they usually frame it as a ‘consumer’s will have to pay more’, issue. But it is a much bigger problem than that.

It is reducing the arts and media to very few voices, and all of them are corporate voices.

When was the last time you heard a protest song on any mainstream radio? In the same way protest of all kinds is blocked, by these few media conglomerates.

The groundbreaking book Media Monopoly saw this in the 80’s and it has all gotten much worse since.
