I Painted In … (poem)

March 24, 2016

I painted in oil
and struck it rich!

I painted in acrylic.
They complained it was plastic.

I drew in charcoal.
They said, “There’s no fire.”

I painted in watercolor.
They said I’m washed up!

The Bagdikian Interview

March 20, 2016

FAIR, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, rebroadcast an interview with Ben Bagdikian, author of The Media Monopoly.

Listening to the ’95 interview of Ben Bagdikian.
He mentions the danger of owning both distribution and content. The media / art companies has taken that up one step.

They own distribution, content, and reviews of content.
They give themselves great reviews for bad music, books, tv, film, etc. OR
They give themselves reviews and deny reviews to independents knowing that even a bad review is good publicity.

Being a musician, painter and writer, I see this every day.
Don’t excuse media control of the arts. Daily we see bad music, bad films, bad books, etc. Support arts too. It’s a big part of FAIRness.

Thanks,
Tom Hendricks

Tricky art and media conglomerates – want it all!

Knock Knock (poem)

March 19, 2016

Knock! Knock!
Knock on my door.
But when I opened it
no one was there.

Knock! Knock!
Knock on my wall.
But when I answered it
no one was there.

“Out or in,
which do you want?”
I wait for an answer…
Knock! Knock!.
