Hit Song Challenge (3 to 6 String of Hits Club)

BIG THREE CHALLENGE. Most of the music business (80%) is controlled by 3 companies, Universal, Sony, Warners. This is an open challenge for those three.

CHALLENGE: Here is a list of nitmakers from 1955-75. Big 3, see if you can match it from your roster of hit songs from 1995-Now.

BACKGROUND
When I was growing up we had a consistent stream of hits. We thought they would never end. (Time period about 1955-1975)
There were the major artists: Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dylan, Beach Boys, etc.
But even more important there were so many artists that had at least a string of 3,4,5 or 6 major hits. Never in history was there such an out pouring of hit records.
For fun I began to make my list of

This chart shows the number of hits year by year.

  2. musea Says:

What’s a hit song? The real hits are songs that everyone wants to record, and every musician wants to learns how to play. The chart above shows that the era of hit songs is long gone.

  3. Sam Says:

    Don’t forget Chic/Nile Rodgers!
