Bless the minnow, bless the whale
Bless the hardy, bless the frail
Bless the straight, bless the turn
Bless the world from stem to stern
Bless the sky and all that’s in it
Bless the start and bless the finish.

Musea Art Contest for 11/28/11

November 29, 2011

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:
“Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb…” But who was Mary?
IS: Mary Sawyer who grew up in Sterling MA. The lamb caper happened in 1815 when her pet lamb followed her to school (clearly against the rules). Bet you didn’t know it was about a real person! The author of the poem is in some dispute and remains a literary mystery.

But there is no mystery about our winner – Mike from Dameron MD. Seems the rest of you, unlike the lamb, never made it to school! I don’t dumb down, so please wise up!

Now on to a new Q.: Win a copy of my NEW cd CALLED ‘30′! – (first anti-band CD) or my NEWER cd CALLED ‘NEXT”(‘06) or my NEWEST cd CALLED ‘THIRDS” (May ‘07) or my MORE NEWEST cd Called “FOUR-TH” ‘08 or my Just RELEASED MOST NEWEST cd CALLED ‘5-TH’(Nov.’09)( one of the 5 CD set). Hunkasaurus.com (has them all plus videos and more) if you are the first to E-MAIL ME AT THIS ADDRESS: tom-hendricks @ att.net(remove blanks of course) with the correct answer to this art question.

FINE PRINT: The CD prize is only available to those with mailing addresses in the US. Foreign winners will have to settle for the miniscule fame alone, and the satisfaction of a job well done. But don’t forget you can listen to all the music on the website, whether you won or lost – and I’d be glad if you did!

Since Buck Rogers and the Rocketeer, we’ve seen the future and it’s jet packs. Surely by 1980 everyone would have one right? There are real jet packs in our age, but they don’t work all that well … yet. Strangely enough they all run on the same fuel, some beauty product you’d find in any hair saloon. Name the jet pack fuel. Good Luck!

Musea Art Contest for 11/21/11

November 22, 2011

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:
A couple of questions back I had one about the first self help book. This question is about Van Gogh and a self help book. The great artist learned some of his drawing skills from a famous self help art book of the time. Name it.
IS: Charles Bargue with Jean-Leon Gerome’s art book titled “Cours de dessin.” This from one of Van Gogh’s letters: “I’m now busy drawing all Bargue’s Exercices au fusain for the 3rd time.”

We had no winner! Seems y’all were unable to draw the correct response.

Poems Written in November 2011

Poems written in November 2011
Comments welcome.
[poem notes in brackets like this]

POEMS
1
Picasso’s distorted faces
show a repressed angst.
This is rampant in modern art
and displays personalities that are split –
torn apart and filled with rage.
2 [from Writings In Science – my sci fi anthology]
When we are sailing
light years away
how can we still
smell the sea air?
3 [from Writings In Science – my sci fi anthology]
A telescope was made
that magnified the smallest.
There in the eye piece
was a room full of wigglers –
waves that sometimes
merged and strengthened
or trough and crest
vanished away.
4.
Life bustles
is self involved,
active, pushy,
wants every niche,
wants to mate,
and its kids to grow,
wants more sun,
or rain, or food,
and sometimes a day
to celebrate!
5
I began a new sketchbook
and drew a spark!
6.
knowing comes
like a firefly
that bumps your back
in the dark
7.
I looked at my
empty bowl
and the rattling
spoon – a bell!
8.
lines
in my palms
like
I Ching stalks

SAYINGS

If there are gravitons, are there anti-gravitons?

Rule of evolution – you don’t change unless you have to.

Dracula, now that’s a novel I can sink my teeth into

Does the sun have a shadow?

You wade in the river where you are.

Police are starting Occupy America.

Congress is like high school except there are no adults in the room.

Truth has a way of being wrong sometimes.

Ridiculously Nice Review of My CD 5-TH

November 12, 2011

Here’s a ridiculously nice review of one of my CD’s from a recent Musea Art Contest winner. (Blush alert). I hope Barry does not mind me reprinting it.

Tom,

I’m currently enjoying your album “5-th”, having been pleasantly
surprised by the sheer craft and accessibility of your music. I expected
something very different and perhaps not so accessible from the
progenitor of “post-band” music, but this is simply a pleasure. Your
voice is open, unaffected, and unfailingly musical, a little similar to
my ears to Don Maclean.
The CD is well designed and produced, and makes a fine presentation to
anyone you should wish to impress.
Thank you for your gift to me. Guess I’m “wised up”.
Best Regards,
Barry.
