Musea Art contest 9/28/10

September 28, 2010

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:

Some think TV shows couldn’t get worse than Gilligan’s Island. (Though I thought it was fun at times). Well let’s go further down in the barrel for this question. This syndicated show (it was just too bad for the networks to run) had all the character types as Gilligan’s Island, but the premise was not a deserted boat in a storm, but a lost wagon train in the old West.

It even had one of the same cast members as Gilligan’s Island. Name that TV show! This is definitely in contention for one of the worst TV series of all time.

IS

Dusty’ Trail with Bob Denver. 1973-74.

We had no eligible winners – seems the answer was stranded too!

I don’t dumb down, so please wise up!

Now on to a new Q.: Win a copy of my NEW cd CALLED ‘30′! – (first anti-band CD) or my NEWER cd CALLED ‘NEXT”(‘06) or my NEWEST cd CALLED ‘THIRDS” (May ‘07) or my MORE NEWEST cd Called “FOUR-TH” ‘08 or my Just RELEASED MOST NEWEST cd CALLED ‘5-TH’(Nov.’09)( one of the 5 CD set). Hunkasaurus.com (has them all plus videos and more) if you are the first to e-mail me at THIS ADDRESS: tom-hendricks @ att.net(remove blanks of course) with the correct answer to this art question*

Dish from the Inside:  Some think because these recordings are just voice and guitar, that someone pushes a cassette recorder in my apartment and that’s it. Not so at all!  Pam Irwin is my engineer and she’s one of the best in Dallas. She’s recorded and/or done sound for everyone from Willie Nelson to Dixie Chicks, Ray Charles and Roy Orbison to LeAnn Rimes. She teaches recording at Valley View Community College, here in Dallas and has a gold record for one of David Byrne’s CD projects. She’s done wonders in the studio, with my pitchy voice and my 40 year old Silvertone. Nothing over produced, our goal was to keep it simple and basic.

Thanks for listening – Tom Hendricks , (editor of the 17 year old zine Musea)

Musea Art Question 9/20/10

September 20, 2010

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:

Beatle questions are fun. Most Beatle experts know that Pattie Boyd, George’s first wife, had some great classic rock songs written about her. They include George Harrison’s, “Something”, and Eric Clapton’s “Layla”. My question is this – what classic song was written about Pattie’s sister Jenny? AND who wrote it?

IS

Jennifer Juniper, by Donovan.

We had no winners – seems y’all were trying to “Catch The Wind” on this one.

I don’t dumb DOWN, so wise UP.

Poems Written Within the Last 10 Days

September 15, 2010

Recent Poems, and sayings

1.
SHEPHERD OF THE ROCKS
Living alone on the icy barren coast
80 miles from any other one,
he led a simple spartan life
of walking, sleep, and food.
.
The weather was frigid. The soil was scarce.
No trees just a little moss.
He got a beard and revelations –
and became the Shepherd of the Rocks.
.
He’d traipse among the sharp worn flock
and bring back any strays.
And corral the ones that wandered off
into walls he’d watch each day.
.
He carried a staff of hard dried wood
that whacked with a piercing knock.
the only sound over the breaking waves
from the Shepherd of the Rocks.
2.
I love the cone shaped hats!
I love the cone shaped hats!
On clowns, magicians, and courtly ladies,
I love the cone shaped hats.
3.
This is a difficult road
This is a difficult road
There’s stones, ruts,
mud, and potholes –
This is a difficult road.
4.
Gate
on the Moon
5.
Ah these Remington ‘nocturnes”.
How sweet the sound of paint!
6.
If the planets are a city,
Pluto is a farm.
If the planets are a house,
Pluto is the barn.
7.
We live on the horns
of a dilemma –
One side anabolic,
catabolic the other!
(See my bio hypothesis).
.
Sayings:
.
This bookmark is my ticket!
Film sequel: 38 Steps and one fall.
She was one of the tall straws!
Do be a fan. Don’t be a blowhard.
This music gives me an arpeggio up and down my spine!
Clothes with more holes than buttons.
