Musea Art Contest 1/30/08

January 31, 2008

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of: January is the birth month for Elvis so here is an Elvis related question.  Sam Phillips, who discovered Elvis among many other accomplishments – said that the greatest artist he every produced was who? Clue it wasn’t Elvis! IS Howlin’ Wolf. I had no correct answers. Seems you were more like mewing kittens out there on this one! I don’t dumb down, so please wise up.

Now on to a new Q.: Win a copy of my NEW cd CALLED ‘30′! – (first anti-band CD) or my NEWER cd CALLED ‘NEXT” or my NEWEST cd CALLED ‘THIRDS” (May ‘07) or my SOON TO BE RELEASED cd CALLED ‘FOUR-TH’ Hunkasaurus.com if you are the first to e-mail me at THIS NEW ADDRESS: tom-hendricks@att.net with the correct answer to this art question*  Ultra violet was one of the characters that inhabited Andy Warhol’s Factory in the 60’s. Her biography of the time called “Famous for 15 Minutes, My Years With Andy Warhol” is amazingly good, candid, and well written. UV loved the spotlight and made it a point that whenever photographers took pictures of Andy, she would be standing on his RIGHT side. Why the right side? Good luck puzzlers!

Musea E-mail Club #411 In House News – Recent Developments

January 31, 2008

Readers, Lots of news to catch up on. Lots of In House News. The most important is that my third cd called THIRDS is now up on our website hunkasaurus.com and free for anyone to listen to. It’s got 14 songs ranging from the original rockabilly “Lovey”, to the love ballad, “Don’t give Up on Love.’ Plus there are some original instrumentals like the big bold “Juggernaut” or the quick sweet “Just Friends”. Plus I do some interesting arrangements on some classics from the big ballad “Let It Be Me” to the rocker “What’d I say”, to the very subdued “Happy Together” to the upbeat “Mr Tambourine Man”. Listen and see what you think. And if you like what you hear, share it with a friend. You have musician – permission. Webmaster Matthew is updating a lot of aspects of the site so check it out to see what’s new. The British publisher Hill Top Press has just released a chapbook of sci-fi poetry by Jimmie Dickie titled “Life in the Freezer”. They used my artwork for the color cover and I think it looks great. It’s a view of a man in a spacesuit from behind. He is wearing a clear glass globe helmet and we see the back of his head as he gazes at a black sky filled with stars. He is buried waste deep in a dry ice fog. The new issue of MUSEA is out. It is the special SNOW issue with two short short stories about snow, and a handful of snow poems. Get your free copy at the usual Dallas spots that carry Musea, or send me a SASE or wait till it’s posted on the website musea.us. And finally – well everyone that writes gets one. I got a review from a punk zine called Razorcakes, of my special poetry issue of Musea Sept/Oct #158. This issue summed up my ideas on poetry, and due to a number of reasons it had the text on only one side of the page. The Razorcake reviewer – and I’m not making this up – spent the entire review lambasting me for wasting paper! Not one word about the text or content. That’s a new one. If I sent her a cd would she review the blank side? Tom Hendricks

The Great Pyramid at Giza covers 13 acres, this 45! I’ve forgotten if I have any correct answers or not. It’s all lost in the jungle when my computer crashed! Computer Crashed – But Now I’m Back

January 18, 2008

Hello to all, I’m glad to be back on the net. My old computer crashed on Oct. 25, 2007 and I’ve been without access to the net since. That means no contests and no weekly Musea E-mail Clubs from then till now. It’s a new year and a new computer for me. I hope to bring back both the weekly mail and the contest. Please stay tuned.Because of the crash, I lost all my e-mail addresses. If you have not heard from me and would like to keep up with all things Musea, please send me an e-mail. My new e-mail address is:  tom-hendricks@att.net .  Look for a new print Musea soon. It’ll be the SNOW issue. I’ve missed not having contact online. And I’m glad to be back. How’s things with you?
