The Rosetta Stone
to communicate
with aliens is
the Periodic table

telescopes in space
have liquid lenses
made of water
curved to perfection.

The Sun and Moon
went out on a date
under the evening stars

The Sun and Moon
stayed out late,
the Moon wore a ring of pearls.

The Sun and Moon
shared a kiss
The sparks lit up the night

The Sun and Moon
will meet again soon,
soon by and by.

I do not like
‘the hungry ghost
who’s determined to alter
the already past.
Who drools with vengeance
for us living souls
and never, no never,
can ever let go.
I do not like

I like my angel
He’s light on his wings
and when he levitates
it’s fun to see

I take his hand
and pull him along
as if I’m toting
a low flying cloud.

He’s like a shadow
but much more substance.

or like a voice
from the choir.

He’s like a pet
that we live for.
He’s like a window.
He’s like a door.

He’s like a song
we sing all day.
He’s like a fragrance
that gently stays.

that someone gave.
That no one can ever
take away.

I like my angel

And when he rises up
it please me.
SAYINGS

This song goes faster than my fingers!

What corporations don’t see is that if your customers don’t grow with you, you go out of business.

Musea Art Contest for 1/10/12

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:
This year’s annual Musea Christmas story, ‘Senlin’, about the world’s greatest dancer, had a major plot point connected to this passage,
“COME TO THE WINDOW! Follow me. Do as you’re told!” Then he (Paulo) laughed. She (Senlin) followed. Looking out the open window, down below was a milling crowd. They did NOT cheer. Senlin thought that odd! Then one young man in the center , turned on some music, and began to dance. ‘Quite nice, she thought. Then two girls next to him began to follow his lead, then four, 16, 50, 75+ were all dancing in unison – moonlit dancers in a sapphire blue night! Senlin smiled and clapped her hands. Many on the outskirts of the crowd that were not in on it, clapped in astonishment too. “Wonderful! Wonderful,” said Senlin as she blew kisses to the crowd and they cheered back! “So Paulo that was your scheme. But what do you call that?” -

1 [Loosely based on a passage from
"The Book of General Ignorance".]

What a day for a nothing event.
In 2003 the Hubble Telescope
was set to ultra deep field mode.
In 1 million seconds, or about 11 days
the photo they made showed tens of thousands
of hitherto unknown galaxies,
each consisting of hundreds of millions
of stars stretching out to a dim lit edge.

My friend and I part -
his straw hat soon
gets lost in the wheat.

3. [Future Astrolabe - from Writings In Science
my sci-fi novel]]

A star is like a match
but cool to the touch
let it land and rest
on your outstretched finger
store it in your pocket
for the light you need
on a moonless night
to help you find your way.

4. [Yarn]

“Tigers, jaguars, leopards, and lions
one in every tree.
That forest was thick I tell you kids,
that forest was thick as thieves.

We’d tiptoe in slippers from bole to bole
as they’d snore up in the leaves.
That forest would buzz with “Z’s” my friends,
that forest would buzz with “Z’s.

We had a mate a gentle soul
whose toe was suddenly stubbed.
He yelled. They awoke. A paw came down
and yanked his body up!

I lost them all – all but me
who escaped without a scratch.
Their chomping on bones, and smacking of lips
was enough to cover my tracks!

Musea’s first Art Contest for 2012

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:
When you think of the American cities with the best architecture, these four come to mind. There’s Chicago that started skyscrapers, New York, Gotham of course, Los Angeles on the coast, and…. Well according to one architecture study, the fourth most notable architecture city in the US is this small 50,000 pop. town! Say what? Name this small American town with the great architecture.

IS: Columbus Indiana! Look for buildings from individuals such as Eero Saarinen, I.M. Pei, Robert Venturi, Cesar Pelli, and Richard Meier. It’s earned the name “Athens of the Prairie.” Check out wikipedia for more. I had no correct answers. Seems y’all were Frank Lloyd WRONG on this one! I don’t dumb down, so please wise up!

The road zig-zags

across the valley

and yet never really

moves at all.

2 [Kids poem for Moon Tea]

Can Earthlings fly?

Of course they can!

To think they can’t is absurd.

Can Earthlings fly?

Of course they can.

Remember some earthlings are birds.

I try to steer my boat,

but the sea underneath has a current

that also has a tide

pulled by the Moon above.

It’s all a lesson to learn.

Don’t fight the sea’s current,

or the winds that blow,

or the Moon above.

And who knows little boat

what currents higher up

pulls the tugging Moon!

4 [ Kids poem for Moon Tea]

Graveyards are locked at night

when all the ghosts run free.

so IF you dare to visit one

take a skeleton key!

5 Rallying the troops]

War is last century boys.

Leave it to the old men

to wave their stick like arms.

And battle it out in their buzzing heads!

Look at the Moon.

What do you see;

a rock,

a raindrop,

a light,

a balloon?

Shouldn’t art explain itself?

Minimalism at its worst, can be nothing much to say

The ENS and digestion system is the powerhouse for the body; like the mitochondria is for the cell.

Musea’s Art Contest for week of 12/14/11

The answer to, and winner (if any) for, our last contest question of:
There is always room for a Beatle question and this one is a fun one. My range singing is almost exactly 2 octaves. I think John Lennon of the Beatles could BEAT that. My claim for the highest John note on a Beatle record is probably the falsetto at the end of In My Life (any one know for sure?) But this week’s contest question for the prize is about the low end of his range: what Beatle recording has John’s lowest note?
IS: The low “G” he sang on “I’m a Loser”. It’s at the end of the verses.
There was no eligible winner. Seems y’all’s Beatle knowledge hit all time lows too. I don’t dumb down, so please wise up!

Senlin wrote in her diary ” What WOULD happen? Later she wrote, “What WILL happen?”
We all know who SENLIN is… Strange of me to start off my short story with a first line so obvious. It’s like saying we all know that 1+2=3. Why even state the equation? It’s like taking a paragraph to describe doves as being white, or crows as being black; summer as being hot, winter as being full of chills. My critics are already sharpening their pencils to write lines like “He states the obvious to try to draw readers in – an amateur writer’s trick.” And I hear even my fondest reader say, “We breathe, Senlin dances, we know! Now start your story! “

Musea Art Contest for 12/7/11 – Good Luck All

Since Buck Rogers and the Rocketeer, we’ve seen the future and it’s jet packs. Surely by 1980 everyone would have one right? There are real jet packs in our age, but they don’t work all that well … yet. Strangely enough they all run on the same fuel, some beauty product you’d find in any hair saloon. Name the jet pack fuel.

IS: Hydrogen Peroxide! Yes, the same stuff we bleach our hair with. Guess it gives the sky highlights!

Come with me!
Come with me!
There is magic
everywhere!

2 (where the night comes from)

The underground
in grottos and caves
holds the night
till twilight arrives.
Then it’s released
and flies away
like a sheet
carried on wings.

3 (“Mars Warning Sign” from my Sci-Fi book “Writings in Science”)

On Mars your lips
fade into the background
and you’ll rue the day
you have to spot
strawberry jam
spilt in the dust.

We live on a boat
without a captain
and yet the sea
has a current.

Nothing that was
can then still be
until I awake
or begin to dream.

Sleep… Sleep…
and slip away;
but brother claims
it’s here I stay.
He took a photo

“Pix can be fixed
