Poems written in late December 2012
Comments welcome. [poem notes in brackets like this]
POEMS
1. [ From Blue Mountain Poems - a mystical imaginary mountain in the distance]
near the top
of blue mountain
the air is thin
but the stars are thick!
2. [From Writings in Science - a sci-fi novel in progress]
Our EVERYTHING Earth -
a leaf in a forest.
3. [a Wake UP Poem]
here
on the Earth
stars
on every side!
4. [Science in a poem that speeds up]
at apogee
the Moon slows down
to let us take a look.
at perigee
it speeds up
5. [Moon Poems /this with two meanings]
i know there’s a new moon
in the air
though for now
it’s invisible
6. [ Vision Poem]
On one side an Angel,
on the other a ghost.
Between them 2 cups
of fragrant tea
with swirls of steam
rising and spiraling
and ever so slowly
fading away…
7. [from Moon Tea, a collection of kids poems]
Look there’s a ladder
to the Moon.
Come and help me
count the rungs.
8. [Sort of a Saturn poem - hey astrologers?]
no need to feel sorry
for the crippled lamb.
long ago he adjusted
to the fate he had.
and when in a pool
you see your face,
look more carefully
for YOUR crippled leg.
SAYINGS
tapping your toes or shaking in your boots?
There are two types of art: realism, and exaggeration.
Science writers, stop trying to impress and start trying to communicate!
I try to paint magic!
