When we start a war, not only do we spend money to have a war, we have less to spend on other things – and those other things may be more important to our protection and security, than an armed force.
There is a video on youtube that shows how the cost of either the war in Iraq or the war in Afghanistan could end poverty in the US – through community bank accounts that would use the interest not the capital to do it (not spend a dime). We have a choice, another war, or end poverty in our country.
The real cost of the war is not only the war trauma – and there is plenty of that all around – but the cost to protecting the US in other, perhaps better ways.
